red dirt rd HOUSE

Located on the northern beaches of New South Wales, this humble beach house was transformed from a dark and dingy shack clad in "mission brown" paneling inside and out.

It was about opening the space as much as possible. Raw and honest, a large recycled oregon beam was installed to remove all columns. Light now floods into the open living space with white-washed wood floors. A simple kitchen engages the living space with raw materials of concrete, steel and white subway tiles - a touch of the owners New York past. Large sliding doors open out to a large covered deck with views of Pittwater, serving as an extra room that is occupied rain or shine.
